OPRP Episode 034 – Online presentations and video – 05.07.10
This episode of the Online PR Podcast with Pete Codella of Codella Marketing and Mark Polson of Code Greene discusses three topics:
Whether to place a blog or newsroom within a main site or outside it
Mark and Pete discuss the pros and cons of each approach. They both generally like the outside-your-main-site approach but stress there’s not a one-size-fits-all approach, that both strategies have merit and it really depends on your overall goals and objectives for your digital footprint.
Pete summarized his feeling that using as many sites as possible to secure a larger digital footprint is better than putting all your eggs in one basket, so to speak.
Mark invited listeners to chime in with their thoughts on the best strategy.
Delivering powerful online presentations
Pete and Mark discuss the merits of tools like Go To Meeting, SlideShare and Prezi to get your message across in creative, engaging presentation formats.
Creating your own video channel
It’s a subject that Mark and Pete have addressed before, but after doing some research for an upcoming presentation for the 2010 Mountain West Arts Conference, Pete re-emphasizes that if you have a story to tell, and it’s visual, you ought to have your own channel on one or several online video platforms to share your message. Don’t rely on consumer generated content to represent you in that space. Be sure to have your own channel where you’re providing valuable insight into your work.

Yes, agreed 100%. Sorry if we didn't address that in the podcast. Your digital footprint of course extends to what others say about you online. Our focus was just to discuss how to self-publish to expand your digital footprint. Thanks for the comment, Tony. ~Pete
